Dear ASPHER Conference participant:

It is almost time for you to travel and we have additional information before your departure.

·       At present the weather n Caltanissetta is summer like, with sunny blue skies and comfortable temperature ranging from 22°C to 24°C daily. Since we are at about 700 metres above sea level, the range can go down considerable during the evening. In fact, at night, temperature currently ranges from 15°C to 17°C. Though meteorologists do not always hit the mark, they foresee no substantial changes for the following days. We advice you therefore to take a light jacket for the evenings and check the internet site for the temperature updates.

·       As you already know, the Conference gala dinner will be held in the mysterious Arabic-Norman castle in the town of Mussomeli. I was there a few days ago and have taken some photographs of the Castle and its attendees that you can find on the Conference web pages under CASTLE. I have done this in order to impress on you the condition of the road that brings to where we will take our meals and so that you can understand my concern about you bringing comfortable shoes. Women are advised not o wear high hills and it is important to bring a jacket or a shawl, just in case.

As the Castle will be entirely ours for that evening, you should concentrate on discovering its beauty and disclosing its mysteries and, obviously, enjoying the whole thing. We will try to assist you in achieving just that.

·         A word about currency. It is obviously best for you to take Euros. However, it is possible to change dollars or pounds in Caltanissetta. For other currencies, please make sure you change it before departure from your Country or do it on arrival at the main airports, like Rome or Milan, as you probably will be transiting through one of these before reaching Catania.

We are at your complete disposal for any additional specific questions you may have on any issue relating to the Conference and to its logistics.

Yours cordially,

Dr. Pina Frazzica,

Director General
